The Florida Supreme Court overturned two death sentences imposed on Thomas Bevel, 35, Black, ruling that one sentence in which four jurors had recommended life violated the requirement announced in Hurst v. State that jury votes for death must be unanimous and reversing the other because of ineffective assistance of penalty-phase counsel.
