A Franklin County jury recommends death penalty for Kyle Flack, 30, White. The jury convicted Flack of capital murder in the deaths of 21-year-old Kaylie Bailey and her 18-month-old daughter, Lana. Flack was also convicted of premeditated 1st-degree murder for killing 31-year-old Steven White and 2nd-degree murder for killing 30-year-old Andrew Stout. They were killed on separate days in the spring of 2013 near a rural area southwest of Kansas City. Prosecutors have said it's unclear what led to the shootings. The defense presented Flack's difficult childhood and upbringing, highlighting generational mental illness and abuse. His attorney cried while talking to the jury about Flack being raped by his stepfather at 8 years old. District Judge Eric W. Godderz, will formally pronounce a sentence on May 18. Kansas has not executed anyone since 1965.
