USA - Maryland. The House Judiciary Committee approved the repeal of the death penalty, making the repeal very close.

The House Judiciary Committee approved (14-8) the repeal of the death penalty. The measure will go before the whole House of Delegates next week. The Maryland Senate has approved the same legislation two days ago (see March 6). The legislation was submitted by Governor Martin O’Malley himself, so he is expected to sign the law whenever it comes to his desk.
