USA - Mississippi. Prosecutors will not seek death penalty for Jeffrey Havard

Prosecutors have announced that they will not seek the death penalty in resentencing proceedings for Jeffrey Havard, who was convicted and sentenced to death in a "shaken baby" case based upon questionable and since recanted forensic testimony. Havard's death sentence was overturned by a state trial court on September 14 (see). He continues to appeal his conviction.
