A Cuyahoga County jury unanimously decided that Douglas Shine Jr. should be sentenced to death for the triple slaying in 2015. Judge Joan Synenberg has scheduled Shine's formal sentencing for Dec. 5. Shine, 21, Black, was charged with aggravated murder for a triple slaying on Feb. 5, 2015. The jury also convicted Shine of conspiring to kill a witness. Police responded to a shooting at a barbershop and found three dead. Walter Lee Barfield, 23, Brandon White, 31, and William Gonzalez, 32, were killed in the shooting. Gonzalez owned the barbershop. Three more men were injured. Shine and Kevin McKinney were arrested in connection to the murders. Police say the two men orchestrated the killing of a witness to the barbershop shooting - 32-year-old Aaron Ladson. Ladson was found shot in the head in June 2015. Months earlier, he was a witness to the barbershop shooting that left his brother, Brandon White, dead. Investigators said Shine is part of the Heartless Felons gang and the shooting was gang-related. Shine was also charged in two other shootings. Shine was released from prison in December 2014 after serving two years on robbery and weapons charges.
