The Ohio Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence imposed on James Goff, 43, White. On September 15, 1994, Goff murdered 88-year-old Myrtle Rutledge in her home. He then left with her money and car. He was convicted and sentenced to death in Clinton County in 1995. The Twelfth District Court of Appeals found in 2010 that one of Goff's earlier appeals attorneys gave him "ineffective" help. The death sentence was thrown out 3-0. Goff was given death again during the resentencing in 2015.
