USA - Oklahoma. Senate passes new mental competency procedure

May 1, 2025 - Oklahoma. (HB 1693) The Senate passed 39-7 HB 1693 that modifies the process to determine mental competency for execution. Including requiring the trial court to render a decision before the scheduled execution date. The bill passed the House on March 12 (see HoC) and the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 22, and now needs to be signed by the Governor.
