A Dallas County jury ordered the death penalty for Matthew Johnson, 38, Black, for the 2012 burning death of a clerk who was set on fire during a convenience store robbery. Jurors on Wednesday convicted Johnson of capital murder in the death of Nancy Harris, 76, White. The victim was splashed with a flammable liquid and set ablaze at the store where she worked. Security video captured part of the incident. Harris, who was able to describe the suspect, died several days after the May 20, 2012, attack.
