A Harris County jury sentenced Lucky Ward, a serial killer, to death. Ward was handed a death sentence by a jury on Tuesday over the 2010 murders of transgender woman Charlie Rodriguez and homeless woman Reita Long. Charlie Rodriguez was found strangled in her home. Lucky Ward was also suspected of involvement in the deaths of 3 other women by strangulation, another transgender woman, Myra Chanel Ical, Carol Flood, also homeless, both in 2010, and the 1985 strangling of Birdell Louis. Ward was also a named suspect in the 2010 strangling of Raquel Mundy, 24. District Judge Chuck Silverman is set to issue a formal sentencing in the next weeks.
