Robert Wayne Harris, 40, black, was executed with a dose of pentobarbital. On March 20, 2000, Harris entered his former place of employment, a car wash, and began shooting co-workers. Harris had been fired three days prior to the shooting. Harris confessed to killing Agustin Villasenor, 36, Rhoda Wheeler, 46, Benjamin Villasenor, 32, Dennis Lee, 48, and Roberto Jimenez Jr., 15. The day after Harris confessed to the car wash bloodbath, he led police to a weeded area and the remains of Sandra Scott, 37, who had been missing for 4 months. He was charged but never tried for capital murder in her death. Harris becomes the 8th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Texas, the 485th overall since the state resumed capital punishment on December 7, 1982, the 29th this year in the USA and the 1306th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
