A Fairfax County jury sentenced Mark E. Lawlor, 45, white, to death for bludgeoning and sexually assaulting Genevieve Orange, 29, in September 2008. Attorneys had conceded that he murdered Orange. They argued that he was so intoxicated by beer and crack cocaine.
