USA - Virginia. The Virginia Supreme Court overturned Alfredo Prieto's death sentence

The Virginia Supreme Court has ordered a new sentencing for Alfredo Prieto, 43, latino. Prieto was already on death row in California for raping and murdering a 15-year-old girl il 1990 when a DNA sample connected him to the Dec. 4, 1988 rape and murder of Rachel Raver and the slaying of her boyfriend, Warren Fulton, both 22. Prieto claimed on appeal that the Fairfax County jury that convicted him of two capital murder charges and sentenced him to death was given unconstitutional jury forms during the sentencing phase. The Supreme Court agreed and ordered a new sentencing.
