Usamah Na'im Atallah, 40, from Gaza City, died of his injuries in hospital. He had been severely injured by a bullet in the back and had also been severely beaten after being abducted on January 27 by gunmen who claimed to be members of the Internal Security Services. After he was taken to an unidentified area, his family received a telephone call stating that their son's corpse was located at the al-Shifa' Hospital in Gaza city. He was guilty of having publicly criticised Hamas and being a sympathiser of Al-Fatah. “Atallah openly criticised Hamas but he never took up arms against them,” Mohammed Atallah, a relative of the victim, said.
