Wesley Tobe Smith Jr., 26, stood in Rowan County Superior Court when the jury concluded Smith should die for stabbing and slashing Margaret Leighann Martin, 18, on Sept. 12, 2001.The jury last week convicted Smith of 1st-degree murder for Martin's killing.
