YUGOSLAVIA ABROGATES THE DEATH PENALTY

the Yugoslav parliament’s lower house’s voted to amend the federal criminal code late on Monday evening.
Justice Minister Savo Markovic said that the adoption of this amendment would help in Yugoslavia´s integration in the international community.
The Chamber of Citizens also adopted an amendment to the Yugoslav Criminal Code which allows the extradition of Yugoslav citizens to international courts with which Yugoslavia has a ratified agreement.
MPs said that the regulations apply to the International Criminal Court, which is in the process of being established.
Both amendments to the Criminal Code have already been passed in the Chamber of Republics, the Federal Parliament’s other chamber.
