Zibusiso Ndlovu, a man who stabbed a woman to death after failing to rape her, was sentenced, to death by hanging, in Zimbabwe. Ndlovu, who pleaded not guilty, was convicted of murder with actual intent by Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Martin Makonese. On July 27 2011, Zibusiso Ndlovu, 37, of Mbondweni Village, in Filabusi, invited Catherine Mpala, 31, to his homestead in Mathole Village, Siganda to collect 60 kg of maize as payment for the battery he had initially bought from the victim. The man proposed love to her but she turned down. Ndlovu went on to rape the woman who tried to escape. Ndlovu stabbed her. Ndlovu then hide the woman’s body in his bedroom and fled from his homestead but the victim’s mother reported her missing daughter to the police. A search was launched and the woman’s lifeless body was discovered under Ndlovu’s bed.
