Maxwell Governor, a gardener, was sentenced to death by the Harare High Court in Zimbabwe, the state-controlled Herald newspaper reported.

Maxwell Governor, a gardener, was sentenced to death by the Harare High Court in Zimbabwe, the state-controlled Herald newspaper reported. Governor was convicted of the 2005 murder of Lisa Veron, a Swiss expatriate working for the World Health Organisation. Judge Chinembiri Bhunu heard that Governor and his brother Edmore attacked Veron at her home, strangling and stabbing her. He then drove her body to a nearby highway where he made it look as if the car had been involved in a road accident. Edmore Governor was given a 17 year jail sentence for failing to report the murder and stealing Veron’s property.
