Zivojin Stjepic of the Christian Democratic Party of Serbia (DHSS) said the party would propose to the republican government and the assembly that talks be started with the European Union on a temporary change to the Serbian Penal Code in order to re-establish the death penalty. Stjepic told a news conference that temporary re-establishment of the death penalty would help in the fight against Serbian organised crime.
