a Fast Track Court in Ahmedabad, India, sentenced 19-year-old Balwant Thakore to death for the rape and murder of a one-and-a-half-year-old girl in the district’s Malek village on April 29, 2004. 
According to prosecution, Thakore had lured the minor girl to the backside of a temple in the village and raped her, before killing her and dumping the body. He then went to a friend and confessed the entire incident.
