A group of parliamentarians intended to appeal to Supreme Court Chairman Vladimir Chanturia requesting him not to approve the decision adopted by the Prosecutor General's Office on the extradition to Russia of three Chechens detained in early August on the state border. According to parliamentarian Elena Tevdoradze ""there is the threat that in verdict on certain cases, jury could cancel moratorium for death penalty, which is in force in Russia," thus putting the extradited Chechens in a position where they would risk being sentenced to death.
