a soldier with Somalia's weak Transitional Federal Government (TFG) was executed in Mogadishu after being convicted of killing another soldier. The executed soldier, 25-year old Nur Ahmed Shire, was convicted by a TFG military court on November 2, 2010, of killing fellow TFG soldier Shafi Abshir Ali in June 2010, according to TFG court documents. Both soldiers were reportedly the personal bodyguards of Mohamed Jama Furuh, a former warlord and current MP in the TFG Parliament. Witnesses said a firing squad consisting of 14 soldiers shot and executed the former TFG soldier as military officials watched the execution, which took place in Mogadishu’s former police academy. Military court officials present at the execution warned all the TFG soldiers not to commit crimes or face harsh punishment.
