Alex Bartolome, 41, was executed by lethal injection shortly after dawn. Bartolome, who raped his teenage daughter more than 100 times between 1993-1995, clutched a Bible as prison officers escorted him to the death chamber. He was the seventh convict to be executed since the Philippines reinstated the death penalty in 1994. Bartolome was executed after President Estrada rejected last-minute appeals by the Catholic Church and human rights groups to spare his life.
