An Iranian court sentenced one man to death and two others to 10-year jail terms for cooperating with an outlawed leftist Kurdish rebel group, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"These three people had sheltered and hidden members of the armed opposition Komala party in a basement of a house in (the Kurdestan provincial capital of) Sanandaj," the agency reported.
"The Komala elements entered Sanandaj for terrorist acts and in some cases blew up or torched cars in the city." IRNA said radio reports identified the man condemned to death as Sasan Alekanan, and the other two as Osman Moradi and Adnan Ghaderi.
Founded in 1969, the Komala, or Revolutionary Organization of Kurkish Toilers, is one of the two main Kurdish rebel groups active in the Islamic republic, alongside the rival Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI).
