An Iranian man identified as Mohammad A., awaiting execution for moral corruption, hanged himself in a Tehran prison after been placed in solitary confinement, the Sedayeh Edalat newspaper reported. The report said Mohammad had been given notice of his impending hanging but then managed to use the blanket in his cell to do the job himself. He was in solitary confinement for allegedly harassing other inmates. He had reportedly been condemned to die after being convicted of mofsed-fi-alardh, meaning "corruption on earth" - a label that covers a variety of sex, drug, religious, security and financial crimes. His fellow inmates, the paper added, were happy upon hearing news of his suicide.
