An Iranian man was hanged publicly in a square in the north-western city of Tabriz after being convicted of raping 23 girls ranging in age from six to 11, the Kayhan newspaper reported

An Iranian man was hanged publicly in a square in the north-western city of Tabriz after being convicted of raping 23 girls ranging in age from six to 11, the Kayhan newspaper reported.
The paper only identified the man by his first name of Reza, and said he was married.
Quoting a provincial official, it said the man had been luring young girls into his car, pulling a knife on them and taking them outside the city to an abandoned building where he robbed and raped his victims. vHis rampage of serial rapes ended in July, when he was caught after kidnapping a seven-year-old girl.
The paper said he had also been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and 74 lashes.
