An Iranian woman found guilty of complicity to murder survived her execution by stoning by managing to escape the hole she was buried in, the Women In Iran website reported.
Under Iran's interpretation of Islamic law, men condemned to death by stoning are buried up to their hips while women are buried up to their chests.
If they manage to escape the burial before being pelted with small stones, they are free to go. Such was the case for the woman in the central city of Yazd who was condemned to die for complicity in the murder of her husband, said the site run by Iranian women journalists.
The report did not name the woman or say when the incident took place.
