Four people have been sentenced to death and two others received life term for the 2009 murder of auto-rickshaw driver Md Rana.
Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 Judge Abdur Rahman Sardar passed the order on December 12.
The death row convicts are Md Masud Ali, Al Amin alias Alam, Md Jahangir Hossain and Md Shafiqul Islam Rob while Md Babla and Md Monir Hossain, who received life term, were fined Tk20,000. In default, they will have to serve an additional year in prison.
On January 9, 2009, Rana was slaughtered to death by his co-workers over the distribution of extorted money at Staff Quarter ground in Demra, Jatrabari.
Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam Azad lodged a murder case with Demra police station over the killing the following day.
