two convicts were executed in the Barisal district central jail in Bangladesh in the early hours of the morning. Hafizur Rahman Mintu, 42, of Katpatty Road in Barisal city, was hanged for killing his wife and two minor sons for dowry on May 9, 2002. Kabir Hossain, 40, of Keuta village in Rajapur upazila of Jhalakati district, was executed for murdering his first wife on November 29, 2001. Jail sources said civil surgeon Dr. Pulin Kumar Singha, magistrate ATM Mahbub Ul Karim, senior jail super Golam Haider and jailer Mokhlesur Rahman were present during the execution. After the execution, the bodies of Mintu and Kabir were handed over to their relatives.
