Christopher C. Goins, 27, black, was executed by lethal injection. He had been convicted of killing 5 people, on October 1984, during an argument with his pregnant girlfriend and the girl's family. The victims were: James Nathaniel Randolph Jr., 35; Daphne Jones, 29; and three children of the Jones family, Nicole, 9; David, 4; and Robert, 3. During the shootings Goins seriously injured his pregnant girlfriend of 14 years, Tamika Jones, who lost the baby after 7 months pregnancy. Goins was sentenced to death for killing the child of 3, he had been given life for the other murders, and had been sentenced to 40 years incarceration for injuring his girlfriend. He was the eighth person to be executed in the State during the year, the 81st since the State resumed executions in 1982. He was the 82nd to be put to death in the U.S. during the year and No 680 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
