Claude Jones, 60, white, was executed by lethal injection. He had been convicted of killing Allen Hilzendager, a white shop owner, during a robbery committed in an alcohol vending store on 14th November 1989. He was the 40th person to be executed in the State during the year, No 239 since the State resumed executions in 1974. He was the 84th to be put to death in the U.S. during the year and No 682 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
