Fatemeh H., a woman was given a reprieve by the head of the Islamic republic's judiciary, Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahrudi, who ordered a review of the case. Fatemeh had been convicted of murdering and chopping up her husband -- who was a drug addict -- after he allegedly tried to rape the woman's daughter from a previous marriage. The report said the woman's daughter had written to Ayatollah Shahrudi appealing for clemency.
