Hands Off Cain adhered to the demonstration for Safiya Husseini, a Nigerian woman condemned to death by stoning for adultery by an Islamic court, organised by the Rai Radio programme Zapping, presented by Aldo Forbice.
In a statement announcing its adherence, HOC said: "we cannot forget that a few days ago in Nigeria, and for the first time since the introduction of Sharia [ed: Islamic law] in the country's northern states, a man, Sani Rodi, was executed in Katsina. We tried to call attention to his fate, but no newspapers carried the story and no one organised demonstrations in his favour. He was not a woman, a mother of a young child, condemned to stoning for a 'non crime' so his execution went ahead amidst the general indifference."
"His case did not inspire compassion because he was convicted of the murder of a mother and her two children," HOC Secretary Sergio D'Elia said.
"However for us this convict had the same rights as Safiya, and if his plight didn't move people to demonstrate, at least the media could have reported his death."
