INDIA: DEATH PENALTY FOR MURDER CONVICT

a local court in Satna, India, handed the death penalty to a person on the charge of raping and murdering a minor in 2004. According to prosecution, the body of an eleven year old girl was found in Piprachha village in this district on January 18, 2004. Investigation revealed that the girl was sexually assaulted and killed. Narendra alias Bode was arrested and blood-stained clothes were recovered from him. Additional Sessions Judge S C Uppadhyay delivered the verdict. There was no eyewitness in the case, the verdict was announced on the basis of circumstantial evidence.
