INDIA: MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR RAPING AND MURDERING MINOR

A Sessions Court in Andhra Pradesh State sentenced a 30-year-old man to death for rape and murder of a three-year-old girl.
Additional Sessions Judge D Suresh convicted Jakkula Venkataswamy (30) under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Jakkula, a labourer, had taken the girl to his house at Damerakunta village in Kataram mandal on February 27 this year where he raped and later killed her by throttling her.
Police had registered a case and arrested the accused after six days of commission of the crime.
