A Kurdish prisoner, Ahmad Irani (known as Aha Chateh), was executed on murder charges at Sanandaj Central Prison on 28 April 2019.
The prisoner was arrested in 2011 on the charge of murdering two people in a conflict over a plot of land in the city of Marivan and sentenced to death.
On 14 April 2019, after becoming aware of the possibility of his execution, he sewed his lips and his eyes with self-injury. In the past two weeks, the efforts of civil society activists to obtain the consent of the families of the two slaughtered were in vain and he was finally hanged.
