IRAN. AT LEAST 23 EXECUTIONS AND 42 DEATH SENTENCES SO FAR THIS YEAR

at least 23 people have been hanged in Iran in 2005 and 42 people have been sentenced to death, said the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), adding that at least 30 minors and 15 women were amongst the prisoners on death row in Iranian prisons.
The executions and death sentences have been carried out and issued in the cities of Tehran, Islamchahr, Pakdacht, Varamine (east of the capital); Abbas-Abad, Nochahr and Sari (in the north); Machad, Semnan, Tabas and Doustabad (in the north-east); Isfahan (in the middle); Jiroft and Bandar Abbas (south); Zabol and Zahedan (south-east); Ahwaz (south-west) and Khoy (north-west).
Moreover, there is the possibility that the imminent execution of Tayabeh Sari Zadeh, a 21 year old woman imprisoned for several years after being convicted of murder, will be carried out.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran appeals to all international organizations, particularly the UN Commission for Human Rights, to strongly condemn the continued executions taking place in Iran.
To this respect, the NCRI asks for the presentation of a resolution at the next Commission on Human Rights and the appointment of a special representative to monitor the situation in the country.
