Ebrahim Yousefi, a Kurdish resident of Kermanshah, was killed by direct gunfire from Iranian government forces during public protests in the Dowlatabad neighborhood of the city.

According to information received by Hengaw, Yousefi, a 42-year-old father of three, was killed on the evening of Thursday, January 8, 2026.

A member of the Yousefi family confirmed the incident to Hengaw, stating that he was shot in the head by government forces. Yousefi’s body has not been handed over to his family.

Public protests on January 8 were held simultaneously in several cities across Iran. In Kermanshah, demonstrations drew a large turnout and were met with severe repression, including the use of violence and live ammunition fired directly at protesters by Iranian government forces.

Hengaw had previously reported that at least five other individuals were killed on the same day in the Dareh-Deraz area of Kermanshah as a result of direct gunfire by government forces.
