IRAN HALTS EXECUTION OF SEVEN PEOPLE

Iran's stayed the executions of seven people, including a man who was sentenced for a murder committed when he was a minor. "Seven convicts, including my client Behnoud Shojaie, were scheduled to be executed in Evin prison this morning," the ILNA news agency quoted lawyer Mohammad Mostafaie as saying. "Upon the order of the judiciary chief, the executions were cancelled," he said. Shojaie, 21, was sentenced to death for killing a teenager in a street fight when he was 17.
