Javad Alilou was hanged on January 23, at the central prison of Bandar Abbas. He was sentenced to death for drug smuggling. According to Iran Human Rights (IHR) sources, on the morning of Thursday, January 23, 2020, Javad Alilou was hanged at the central prison of the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas. According to IHR sources, Alilou (which Radio Farda identifies instead as Aliploo), 38, from the Dehbarez region, was sentenced to death four years ago for carrying 125kg of "shisheh". Shisheh (literary glass, in Persian) is an Iranian nickname for methamphetamine in the form of crystal, and relatively cheap to buy in the Islamic Republic.
