IRAN. MAN PUBLICLY HANGED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

Iran hanged a man convicted of drug trafficking in a square in the clerical capital Qom.
The man, identified by his first name of Gholam Reza, was sent to the gallows for trafficking 90 kgs of narcotics, state media reported. The hanging comes a day after a UN General Assembly committee passed a non-binding resolution urging Iran to "abolish, in law and in practice, public executions and other executions carried out in the absence of respect for internationally recognized standards."
