It was reported that Kashmiri separatists were planning protests against the death sentences awarded to three Kashmiris convicted for the Parliament attack case. Former Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said, "Kashmiris will not be mute spectators to this unfortunate decision." "If we believe the initial version that foreigners were involved, why were Kashmiris sentenced to death?" he asked. "I am particularly disturbed the way Rehan Geelani, a college lecturer, has been sentenced to death. It is disturbing, since as even by the account of Indian human rights groups he was convicted on the basis of a telephone conversation, the transcript of which was wrongly interpreted," Mirwaiz said.
