Judge Mohammad Ali Ebrahimkhani, the President of the Court of Appeal in Teheran, Iran, said that stoning is allowed for in the law and judges must ensure that it is applied. “There aren’t alternate sentences to crimes that are punished with stoning,” the judge said to the Iranian daily Etemad. The exact number of stonings issued and carried out in Iran is not known.
