Mahmood Matin and Arash Basirat, sentenced for apostasy, were acquitted by the Fifth Section of the penal tribunal in the province of Fars in Shiraz, south eastern Iran. The tribunal found no factual evidence that the two men were guilty of apostasy. Both denied converting to Christianity and declared they were Muslims.
