MALAYSIA: IRANIAN TO HANG FOR TRAFFICKING IN METHAMPHETAMINE

The High Court in Malaysia sentenced an Iranian man to death by hanging after being found guilty of trafficking in 312.2gm of Methamphetamine.
Abbas Shirazi, 26, who worked at a factory was charged with committing the offence at the Customs Department inspection counter in  Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Sepang at 10.25am on June 15, 2010. 
Justice Noor Azian Shaari in her judgement dismissed as flimsy, Abbas' defence that he was offered a substantial amount of money to bring in a pair of sandals and a hair straightener as samples to Malaysia and was unaware of the concealed drugs inside the sandals.
"Hence the court finds that the prosecution has succeeded in establishing its case beyond reasonable doubt," she said.
The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Azamuddin Abd Aziz from the Royal Malaysian Customs while Abbas who managed a smile in the dock as Noor Azian passed the sentence on him, was represented by Datuk N. Sivananthan.
