Mohammad Reza Pedram, 56, a former air force officer and an alleged CIA agent was hanged after the supreme court upheld the death sentence passed against him by a military court. ISNA said that Mohammad Reza Pedram had contacted the CIA in 1986 during the Iran-Iraq war and passed on classified information about Iran. After being granted political asylum in America the man started work for the CIA. Iran's security services arrested the man as he attempted to leave the country on a false passport in 1986.
