PAKISTAN: LHC CONFIRMS DEATH SENTENCE

Tanveer, alias Teroo, and Tanzeel, alias Gongloo, were tried for killing Sabir Hussain for putting up resistance in a motorcycle snatching bid. On December 14, 2002, an Additional Sessions Judge sentenced them to death. They were also directed to pay Rs 100,000 in compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased. On appeal, the LHC bench reduced the sentence of Gongloo, who was not accused of firing at Sabir.
