PAKISTAN. SHC DISMISSES APPEAL OF ACTIVIST, COMMUTES DEATH SENTENCE

the Sindh High Court, Pakistan, dismissed the appeal filed by an activist of the banned Harkatul Mujahideen Al Alami group for murder but commuted his death sentence into life imprisonment.

Kamran alias Atif had been sentenced to death by an anti terrorism court in Karachi on April 29, 2006 for killing a passer-by and attempting to kill policemen in shootout on May 19, 2004.
He was further charged with possession of arms, ammunition and other explosive materials.
