SCHEDULED IRANIAN EXECUTION DELAYED

Iran stayed the hanging of Kurdish political activist Sherko Moarefi for a possible judicial review. Moarefi, 31, was arrested in October 2008 on suspicion of being a member of Komala, a Kurdish opposition political party. Moarefi was sentenced to death after his conviction for "acting against the national security" and moharebeh or waging war against God, the report said.
