Shops and businesses were closed in Kashmir's main city, Srinagar, in protest against death sentences awarded to three Kashmiri men convicted for an attack on India's parliament. Life in Srinagar ground to a near halt following a strike call by lawyers, a rights group and a women's separatist group to "express solidarity" with the three men sentenced to death. Hundreds of slogan-shouting people in north Kashmir's Baramulla district marched through the streets in protest at the sentence. "We want justice, withdraw the death sentence," the protestors shouted.
