six people who participated in protests in Iran against the re-election of president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were hanged in the city of Mashhad. The news, which was not independently confirmed, was reported by the Jerusalem Post in a telephone interview with a source in Iran. However, the Chief Magistrate of Mashhad denied that the six protesters were hanged. In an interview with ILNA correspondent Hojjat ol-Eslam Seyyed Hasan Shariaty, he rejected the foreign media reports. He explained that “if we manage to identify the source of this rumour we will officially open a case against them.”
